How the payload works

What a WiFi QR code actually encodes

A WiFi QR code is not a website link. It stores a short WIFI: string with the network name, the security type, and the password. When a phone camera reads it, the operating system offers to join that network. The guest does not have to type the password, and they do not need our site to stay online.

Because the details live in the printed pattern, this is a static code. If you rename the network or change the password, print a new WiFi QR code. We do not scan other people’s codes to reveal a password, and we do not run a WiFi QR scanner on this page.

Typed password

Guests misread the board, ask the staff, and still fail to join.

WiFi QR code

One scan opens the join prompt with the network already filled in.

What happens when someone scans

1

The camera reads the pattern

The payload looks like WIFI:T:WPA;S:Cafe-Guest;P:…;; with special characters escaped.

2

The phone offers to join

iPhone and Android cameras understand this format. No extra app is required.

3

They are on the network

The password never goes through QRDynamic. The image was built on your computer.

Choose the right code

WiFi QR code vs a dynamic link code

Use a WiFi QR code when the job is joining a network. Use a dynamic code on the homepage when the job is opening a page you may change later.

Built for the front desk

A WiFi QR code should be boringly reliable.

This page only does the join-the-network job. No account wall, no upload, no scanner that tries to recover someone else’s password.

Drawn in the browser

The SSID and password are encoded here. We do not receive them and we do not store them.

WPA, WEP, or open

Most home and café routers use WPA/WPA2/WPA3 — keep WPA selected unless you know otherwise.

Hidden network flag

Turn it on if the SSID is not broadcast. Phones still get the name from the code.

Print-ready download

PNG is free. SVG is on paid plans for large signs. Test-scan before you print a stack.

Industrial Scanning Precision

Engineered with robust error correction for damaged surfaces

Printed barcodes in restaurants, factories, and outdoor billboards face grease stains, direct sunlight glare, scratches, and folded corners. QRDynamic generates codes using optimized Reed-Solomon error correction algorithms.

Because our redirect URLs are concise, the data density remains minimal. This leaves ample room for error correction symbols, allowing modern smartphones to decode the image even if up to 25% of the printed area is smudged, torn, or partially obscured.

Reed-Solomon Resilience

Self-healing mathematical algorithms restore obscured data modules on wrinkled flyers and scratched acrylic signs.

Ultra-Fast Focus

Lower grid dot counts let standard smartphone cameras lock focus and decode the target in a fraction of a second.

Vector Quality Rendering

Sharp, crisp block edges eliminate pixel fuzziness on large-format offset printing presses and thermal labelers.

Privacy & Compliance

Zero invasive tracking cookies. All visitor telemetry is strictly anonymized and compliant with international privacy rules.

Quick start workflow

How to create a WiFi QR code

Four steps. The preview updates as you type.

Step 1

Copy the network name exactly

SSID is case-sensitive. A trailing space will make the join fail. Copy it from the router or a phone that is already connected.

Step 2

Pick the security type

WPA covers almost every modern router. Use open only for a guest network that truly has no password.

Step 3

Type the password and scan the preview

Use your own phone first. If it does not offer to join, the name or password is wrong — not the generator.

Step 4

Download and print

PNG for a sticker or slide. SVG if the sign is large. Leave a quiet white margin around the square.

Commercial deployment

Print optimization checklist

Best practices for printing editable barcodes

Before sending thousands of copies to the printer, follow these proven guidelines to guarantee rapid, error-free camera scanning across every device.

1. Respect Minimum Sizes

Never print smaller than 20 x 20 mm (0.8 x 0.8 inches). For signs viewed from 2 meters away, ensure the graphic is at least 20 cm wide.

2. Maintain High Contrast

Always print dark modules against an opaque, light background. Avoid dark-on-dark or low-contrast pastels that confuse phone camera sensors.

3. Keep the Quiet Zone Clean

Leave a solid white margin of at least 4 modules width around the entire pattern boundary. Do not crowd the code with text or graphics.

4. Test With Real Devices

Test printed proofs with both iOS and Android default camera apps under bright and dim ambient lighting before initiating mass production.

Frequently asked questions

WiFi QR code questions

Password, expiry, iPhone and Android, and what this page will not do.

Is this WiFi QR code generator free, and do I need an account?+

Yes. Creating and downloading a static WiFi QR code is free and does not need an account. The pattern is built in your browser. Sign in only if you later want a dynamic code on the homepage — that is a different job.

Does the password get uploaded?+

No. The network name, password, and hidden flag never leave this page. We cannot see them, reset them, or recover them later. If you close the tab, we have nothing stored.

Will the WiFi QR code expire?+

No. A static WiFi QR code keeps working as long as the network name, password, and security type stay the same. It does not depend on QRDynamic remaining online.

Can I change the password later without reprinting?+

Not with this static WiFi QR code. The password is inside the image. If the router password changes, make a new code and replace the print. If you need a sign that can change later, that is a dynamic URL code on the homepage, not a WiFi payload.

Does this work on iPhone and Android?+

Yes. Current iPhone and Android cameras understand the WIFI: format and show a join prompt. Older phones may need the system WiFi settings screen. Always test with the devices your guests actually carry.

Can this page read a WiFi QR code and show the password?+

No. This is a generator, not a scanner. We will not decode someone else’s printed code to reveal a password. If you forgot your own password, check the router sticker or a phone that is already joined.

What about hidden networks or an open network with no password?+

Turn on the hidden switch if the SSID is not broadcast. For an open network, set security to none and leave the password blank. Anyone who photographs an open or password-bearing code can read those details — treat a public print as public.

Can I add a logo or download SVG?+

Use More design options under the preview for colours, frames, and a logo. PNG download is free. Vector SVG is on Pro and Lifetime, the same rule as the rest of the site.

Put the password on the wall once.

Create the WiFi QR code here, scan it with your own phone, then print. The network details stay on your device.
